Why We Give Back

Sage Island is proud to be an active part of our local community

Wilmington is where we live and work, the place that inspires us and keeps us grounded. By giving back, we help ensure that it remains a vibrant, active, and beautiful place. Below are some of the causes and events we’re happy to support.

UNCW Cameron School of Business

Each year Sage Island funds a merit-based scholarship of $1,000 to assist UNCW students interested in pursuing a degree offered by the Cameron School of Business. As a local business with strong ties to UNCW, this scholarship is especially meaningful.

UNCW Information Systems & Master of Computer Science

The advisory board works to improve the quality of UNCW’s undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, the board helps UNCW faculty and staff stay abreast and aware of current trends in the information systems and computer science industries.

Without Limits

Without Limits Youth Programs are committed to sharing the love of running with young athletes in southeastern North Carolina, while helping them develop skills such as teamwork, goal setting, and self-confidence. Sage Island is committed to helping WOL achieve these important goals.

Cucalorus Film Festival

Cucalorus is a non-competitive festival that supports innovative artists and encourages creative exchange. The festival is held each November in historic downtown Wilmington with screenings of 150 films from around the world. We were proud to be a 2015 Leadership Sponsor of this landmark event.

Lighthouse Beer & Wine

Wilmington is quickly becoming a craft beer destination, a fact the annual Lighthouse Beer & Wine Festival has been celebrating for over ten years. We love supporting this event, as well as the many local breweries and bottle shops in the Port City.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

This annual race is part of the Susan G. Komen organization’s efforts to provide funding for health services, breast cancer education, and outreach in the region. It’s a cause we’re happy to support.

Historic Wilmington Foundation

The Historic Wilmington Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving historic homes in Wilmington, NC. Each September we sponsor (and race in!) their annual 5K, which raises funds for their preservation programs and projects.

North Carolina Holiday Flotilla

The annual Flotilla is one of the top 20 events in the Southeast and attracts an estimated 50,000 people to Wrightsville Beach. It’s fun, festive, and a fabulous way to kick off the holiday season. We’re proud to be a part of it!

Ogden Skatepark

Sage Island is happy to support the Ogden Skatepark, a new park that will provide hundreds of skaters and bikers a new outlet for their sport in New Hanover County.

Hope from Helen

Hope from Helen is a non-profit charity that supports local and global organizations dedicated to health, education, animal welfare, the environment, and individuals and families in need. Since 2005, it has raised over $500,000 for charity, and Sage Island is proud to support this great organization.

Wilmington Fur Ball

As a company Sage Island loves animals, so supporting the annual Wilmington Fur Ball is always a pleasure! This black tie, red carpet fund raising gala supports the rescue and adoption efforts of the Pender Humane Society and Adopt an Angle of New Hanover County.
