The Seasoned Gourmet is a culinary shop with an online shopping option located here in Wilmington, North Carolina.
They offer quality products for the home cook and professional chef in addition to our locally roasted coffees, oils, vinegars, artisan spices, salt, peppers, and locally sourced products.
The shop has expanded over the years from an original 1000 square foot space to its current 4400 square foot location to include a functional kitchen that hosts The Cape Fear Food & Wine Club, where cooking and wine education classes are conducted regularly. The kitchen space is also available for private events, birthday parties, homeschooling, team building, bridal showers, etc., and the summer kid’s cooking camps are a favorite during the summer season.
The Seasoned Gourmets website needed to serve both marketing and informational purposes. This client asked Sage Island to redesign the site to focus first on the marketing goal and then tie in supplemental information about Cape Fear Food & Wine Club.
We replaced the clunky former on the home page with one eye-grabbing featured image and a call-to-action that drives traffic to the other vital aspects of this business.
Lower on the page, we placed more calls-to-action with corresponding images, inviting them to check out the online store and register for classes.

The Seasoned Gourmet’s former site was designed with a linear layout, which felt a little stagnant and outdated. We created a much more engaging user experience by replacing the old images and color with a clean and modern look to inspire visual interest and not take away from what the Seasoned Gourmet offered its customers.
We utilized a powerful plugin from our programming team to achieve the website’s functional goals: allowing visitors to purchase products, review the wine selection, or register for cooking courses.
Our marketing team wrote and revised existing copy for the website and added a blog page to reflect the brand’s voice and utilize Search Engine Optimization [SEO] best practices to boost the website’s ranking on search engines.
With their new site, The Seasoned Gourmet and The Cape Fear Food and Wine Club can now reach busy out-of-town travelers and Wilmington locals alike.
